A 13 year old boy, Anas Basiru, died in open water in a sauna in the Nassarawa local government area in Kano State, according to the Kano State fire department.
Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, the organization's public relations officer who made the announcement yesterday in Kano, said the incident occurred on Wednesday.
"We received a distress call from a Mallam Haruna Musa at about 4:00 pm that Basiru's body had been found floating in open water.
"After receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene at 4:10 pm.
"It was handed over to security personnel on behalf of the family," the PRO said.
Muhammad further explained that the state fire department had received 97 emergency calls from different parts of the state in the last two weeks.
He noted that the emergency calls involved collapsed buildings and fire disasters.
This is a sad one for the family and the community. Parents should keep a watchful eye on their kids, in other to monitor their every move. Also parents and guardians ought to speak to their kids more often, advising them on what to do and where to go.
