Zakawanu Garuba the former Edo speaker of Edo State House of assembly is reported dead.
According to the source who was also the member of the family, said he died earlier this morning, today being Saturday 18th of July 2020.
2. 3 die in road accident in Niger — Police.
According to report this afternoon, the Niger Police has revealed that not fewer than three person died in the state, as a result of accident that occurred in Gurata village along Minna - Bida road, in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger.
It was also revealed by the state's commissioner of police, Mr. Adamu Usman, that nine people sustained injuries at the spot.
According to Usman statement he said, “Three persons died on the spot while nine others who sustained various degrees of injuries were evacuated to General Hospital, Minna for treatment.
” We have since commenced an investigation and warned truck drivers to desist from carrying people in the truck as such vehicles are not for passengers.
“Its a lone accident but the truck was filled with passengers, in addition to the rice it carries resulting in the accident".
3. Anambra govt cautions residents against rising COVID-19 cases.
Anambra state government has warned it's residents against rising of covid-19 cases.
The information was disclosed today by the commissioner for Health in Anambra, Dr. Vincent Okpala, who in his statement said,
“It is frightening that at this point in time most residents of the state do not believe in the existence of the virus. It is time to take action to avoid the wider spread of the virus.
“The virus is best treated at an early stage. There is no need to cover up the disease because it would be more dangerous.
“We are in constant touch with Representatives of the World Health Organisation, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, UNICEF and Red Cross.
“Civil Society Organisations, among other critical bodies in the fight against coronavirus pandemic in Anambra.
“We need to keep fighting against the highly infectious and deadly disease to achieve positive results".
