
Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of a boy identified as Anas Basiru who drowned in a river.
The 13-year-old boy drowned while playing near a river in Sauna, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State on Wednesday at about 2:00pm.
In a statement, the State’s Fire Service said they received a distress call from one Mallam Haruna Musa at about 4:pm that Basiru’s body was found floating in the open water.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene at 4:10p.m.

“He was handed over to the security personnel on behalf of the family”, the statement read in part.
This is so saddening and horrible, we pray God grant the family fortitude to bear the loss.
