
The Nigerian police command has confirmed the death of three people in an accident that occurred on Friday along the Minna - Bida road in Bosso Local Government Area , along within the town of Gurata.
State police commissioner Adamu Usman said in Minna that nine other people were injured in varying degrees.
Usman said the accident, which occurred around 9:30 pm and involved an articulated truck loaded with rice and people, was on its way from Kano to Lagos.
"Three people died instantly, while nine others, who suffered varying degrees of injuries, were evacuated to Minna General Hospital for treatment.
"In the meantime, we have opened an investigation and warned the truckers not to take passengers on the trucks, as these vehicles are not suitable for passengers.
"It was a solitary accident, but the truck was full of passengers in addition to the rice it was carrying, which caused the accident," said Usman.
