Nigeria loses first, only female combat Helicopter Pilot
It is tragedy for The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) as they announced the painful exit of their only female helicopter pilot. The flying officer identified as Tolulope Arotile, was reported dead earlier this week. She died in a road traffic accident at The Nigerian Air Force base in Kaduna. NAF says it was a regretful and unfortunate demise.
Flying officer Tolulope who was commissioned into The Nigerian Air Force in September 2017 as a member of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) regular course 64, was the first and only female combat helicopter pilot the service of the NAF before her death.
Three years was a short time for her in service to the NAF but she had an impactful stay. Under Operation “Gana Aiki” in Minna, Niger State, She made significant contributions to free States in the North central from some criminal elements and other armed bandits as she flew several combat missions.
