Two Policemen Drowned While Chasing Suspected Marijuana Smokers.
Tragedy occurred in the police station of Durbar, Oyo State, when two newly recruited police officers drowned while hunting down suspected marijuana smokers.
The identities of the police officers were revealed as Oparemi Goke and Ogunyemi Mujeeb, who only left the police academy a few months ago.
They drowned in the Awerintu River, Oke Eletu, at about 19:30 on Sunday, July 12, 2020, while chasing thugs running towards a flooded bridge.
One of the thugs reportedly jumped into the water, and the police jumped in after him and were swallowed by the mud. Their bodies were later recovered around 9:20 pm.
