Ever wondered what the AMG badge, that comes pinned to the powerful and luxurious vehicles from the performance division of Mercedes-Benz, means?

The letters "AM" in the AMG", stands for Aufrecht and Melcher. These name was derived from the last two former Mercedes-Benz engineers, Hans Werner Aufrecht which is the "A" and Erhard Melcher which stands for "M".

The last letter which is G, was derived from Aufrecht birth town named Grobaspachth. The "G" means Grobaspachthe.

More time is invested by the AMG engineer team, to hand build each AMG-badge vehicles, and extra-sporty handling and more stylish aesthetic.


The AMG is more expensive than the Mercedes-Benz models. The G550 starts from N47.8 million. The AMG G63 is more expensive than the G550 version. It starts from N54 million.

When you see the AMG badge in your car, you should know you are sitting in a luxurious car.
