Beware, Tax Collectors Will Now Visit Homes In Anambra State For Tax Compliance

The Anambra state government lead by chief Willie Obiano are not living any stone unturned when it comes to generation of revenue in bankrolling the activities of the state government. A directive from Dr. David Nzekwu, the chairman and chief executive of Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (ASIRS) has announced that a taskforce has been set up by the board to visit homes and markets to measure the compliance and also fish out those that has not been paying their tax to the state government for possible arrest and persecution.

In a public notice announcement made available and signed by Dr. David, it reads " Anambra State Internal Revenue service wishes to announce to the general public that it will be embarking on revenue verification excerise across the state, the exercise will affect; households, traders, businesses and government offices. During this process, Inspectors of Taxes will be visiting homes and offices. They will demand to see evidence of payment of , Personal Income Tax, withholding tax, Signage Fees, Fire service fees and ASWAMA levies"

He warned Ndi Anambra not to pay any of the above mentioned tax and levies to account that is not Anambra state account recognized by the state government to avoid being scammed, paying twice or persecuted for not paying tax and levies.

So as it stands, you need to be ready for the August visits from Tax collectors if you are living in Anambra state.
