Revenue and Income are important tools and crucial instruments in the governance of a State or Country. The value of a State's treasury is a significant determining factor that can make or break such State.
Nigeria, as a Nation, is in deep financial holes. With Government sourcing For incomes by borrowing from International Monetary Funds(IMF), World Bank and People's Republic of China.
What the government fails to see is that there's more money in the Country than they can ever borrow anywhere.
The Current outstanding debt of many Nigerians on Electricity utility bills alone, is enough to fund a year budget.
Many Nigerians are using electricity without paying the dues that comes with it. There are houses and homes in the Nation that enjoy constant power supply but have not being paying bills for a very long time.
The only foolproof solution for government to properly monitor and account for usage of Electricity is to provide Meters for every Homes.
This is a sure investment which will certainly brings about a huge return into the Nation's coffer; give out Electricity meters to people at a token or free of Charge.
If electricity meters are installed in each homes and houses in the Country, surely, there won't be any means to use electricity without paying; plus the government gets to deduct the outstanding debt of defaulting Consumers little by little upon every recharge of the Meter till the debt has being fully paid.
