Check Out Five Important Things You Need To Know As An Ex- Corp Member

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was founded by Adebayo Adedeji and Yakubu Gowon in 1973.

NYSC is a program set up by the Nigerian government to involve Nigerian graduates in nation building and the development of the country.

The main purpose for the program is to foster national unity and cohesion all over the country.

There is no military conscription in Nigeria, but since 1973 graduates of universities and later polytechnics have been required to take part in the National Youth Service Corps program for one year.

This is known as national service year and Ahmadu Ali was the first Director-General of the NYSC until 1975. The incumbent Director-General of NYSC is Shuaibu Ibrahim.

Many Nigerians have been benefiting from the program. After the orientation camp with many activities, nice place to rest, good food with chicken every Sunday, tea and bread, bicycle allowance, 33,000 thousand allowance every month etc.

Here are some vital things that all 'corpers' Corp members need to know.

No More Allawee

Lol! It is generally believe that all corps are entitled to the allowance monthly since the day you enter camp till your POP, 'Passing Out Parade'.

I need to make you aware that your Allawee ends after 12 months. Some corp members work little even some do not work at all and collect money at the end of the month.

But the fact is after your POP no more Allawee.

Yesterday was Batch C stream l POP many were happy for the success and the privilege to serve their fathers' land while some were not in a good mood because they have no savings and "Allawee no dey again".

Job is not Guarantee

In every year, more than 20,000 thousand corp members finish their NYSC program without any hope for job.

Permit me to tell you this bitter truth, "Nigeria is not all about what did you study? Or where did you graduate? But all about who sent here"?

Nigeria has thousands of graduates with a few job opportunities.

It's Time to work, Sleep late and Wake Early.

I could remember when I was serving, some PPA Place Of Primary Assignment will tell you to just come twins in a week, you can even choose not to go there more than a day in a week.

During NYSC you have time to work little and relax very well. But when you are done with the service, the main business begins. You will not be paid for what you don't work for.

No More Community Development Service But Family Development Service.

CDS Community Development Service is a wonderful idea that all corp members need to do. Help your society, give them from little you are giving from Federal or sensitize your community, where you are serving.

Now, as an Ex- corper, you will face family service which is compulsory. Although community service is not a false but it is a false to give your siblings from your earning, you must pay your children school fees, house rent and various bills.

Get set for the Family Development co - former corp members.

Reality Begins

At a time, I think allawee will not stop, free health will continue, I will not leave family; where we pray together, smile and play, I pay little money and eat plenty food and the only place corp members can charge each other battery.

"My ex corper! You are now on your own, pray for yourself, work for your money, cook your breakfast and dinner by yourself.

It is now the time..."I wish all batch C stream 1 a favour market, congratulations!
