Indeed I always waited for this moment, not that I'm not a fan of the business magnate Jeff Bezos, it is just that I've been waiting for someone to climb higher than him on the Forbes list of richest people the same way he climbed over Bill Gates in 2017.
For almost half a decade we have watched Jeff Bezos maintain his status as the richest man in the world, and the richest man in modern times. He was the first centi-billionaire the world ever recorded and his company "Amazon" is the second company in history to reach a market cap of $1 trillion. Jeff Bezos was named the "richest man in modern history" when his net worth reached $150 million in 2018, a year after he became the first centi-billionaire on the Forbes list.
As a matter of fact Jeff Bezos has become a pace setter for other men in the top echelons of the Forbes wealth index, Jeff Bezos has been followed closely by Bill Gates and that changed in recent times following the divorce of Jeff's wife Mackenzie Tuttle in 2019 which reduced Jeff Bezos' net worth by about a quarter and made his wife the 3rd wealthiest woman in the world with a net worth of $36 million, this didn't make him fall from the top though, he immediately boosted as the covid19 pandemic caused more sales on Amazon, this pushed his networth farther upward as he is currently peaked at $196.6 million, this is almost $200 million
Let's be clear, nobody has climbed higher than Jeff Bezos on the Forbes wealth index, Bill Gates has only gotten close but he has never gotten wealthier since he was unseated in 2017.
Here is a little history on Jeff Bezos.
Jeff Bezos became a billionaire in 1997 and 2 years later (1999) he entered the Forbes list of billionaires, his net worth was $10.1 million then. His networth dropped drastically in the next few years to a ground level of $2 million. This was a great set back for him, he regrouped and in 2010 he hit $12 million, this was the year his wealth started to increase sporadically, from about $12 million in 2010 to $66.6 million in 2016, this implies that he moved from 43rd wealthiest person on the Forbes list to 3rd wealthiest person.
As if all that wasn't enough he became the wealthiest man in 2017 with a net worth of $112 million. Who can possibly push Jeff Bezos off the number 1 spot? If not Bill Gates, then who?
Is it possible for Mark Zuckerberg or Warren Buffet to unseat Jeff Bezos?
