Are you tired losing money to scammers online. Due to the pandemic, most business and money making opportunities are online. But every thing has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of making money online is that you work from the comfort of your home anytime, any day. A major disadvantage is the increasing rate of scammers online .
A major way to identify a scammer is that they promise to give you big rewards within a short period of time, all you have to do is to give them a small token or investment, and when you do, your money is gone.
Here are 5 ways to protect yourself from scammers.
1. Send money to only trusted friends and family.
Some times these people pretend to be your childhood friends or distant relatives. They come to you to help them with money to solve one or two of their problems. If you are not really sure of the persons identity, just ignore.
2. Avoid giving out personal details.
Details like your full name, date of birth and e-mail address should not be handed out easily. Avoid fishy online business even if the sign up is free. Must scammers use this method to steal your identity.
3. Avoid giving out your bank details.
This is a very important way. When signing up on an app or website that ask you for information like your BVN, or card number , please be very careful. If possible just ignore such platforms. Its better to be safe than sorry.
4. Do Online Research
Before you invest in any online business, make online research. Search out for reviews and other people's opinions regarding such platforms.
5. Ask For Detailed Information.
Some times, the person introducing you to an online platform may have the chance to chat with you one on one. You can ask for information like how will your money be invested, how will you benefit from my investment, where will you get such amount of money to pay me... and so on.
Stay safe out there in the online money world.
