A Kenyan Job Seeker identified as Dennis Odhiambo has gotten himself in trouble for allegedly trying to entice some soldiers with money in order to get undue advantage over other applicants that turned up for the ongoing recruitment that began on the 8th of February.
Dennis Odhiambo was caught on Thursday at Diemo Primary School in Seme, which is one of the designated centers for the recruitment.
According to reports, the applicant was attempting to entice the army personnels with 300,000 thousand Kenyan shillings after he wrote a ksh 3000,000 on the soles of his feet to get the attention of the army officers.
seme sub county Police boss, Hellen Ngetich disclosed further that the parents of the boy were also arrested for questioning. This is because they believed they have a hands in the action of the man.
Multiple reports of bribery for recruitment has been on the increase, and the Kenyan Defense Force boss says he will not tolerate such behaviors.
He warned that if any one is caught either giving or receiving bribe in the course of recruitment will be severely delt with.
The rising cases of bribe giving in the ongoing recruitment has been attributed to the high level of unemployment in the country, which is leading to desperation on Kenyan youths.
It would be recalled that the recruitment into Kenya Defence Force commenced since the second week of this month.
Kudos must be given to the army personnel for not allowing themselves to be bought for any reason.
My question is can Nigerians take a cue from Kenya. Also I noticed that there is mad rush to join the army unlike in Nigeria.
