Obaseki Approves Training For 10,000 Civil Servants

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has approved the training of 10,000 civil/public servants in the state.

According to the Managing Director of John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy, Imuwahen Ajoonu, the training would commence on Monday with classes holding in the academy’s premises and online.

Ajoonu noted that the aim of the academy is to strengthen the civil/public service institution through capacity building.

She said, “It is exciting to note that the governor has once again demonstrated his desire to make the civil and public service the bedrock of development in the state by approving the training of 10,000 workers.

Buhari Prays For BRT Victims

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sympathy over the accident involving a Lagos State BRT staff bus and a train at the Shogunle area of Ikeja.

In a statement issued by Buhari’s media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, on Thursday, the President said that the accident was distressing and extremely sad.

He said, “The accident at the level crossing involving the train and the BRT staff bus is distressing and extremely sad. I pray for the souls of the deceased and quick recovery of the many who were injured.”

Gov’ship Poll: INEC To Appeal Ruling On Temporary Voter Cards

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it will appeal the Thursday’s ruling by the Federal High Court, Abuja, ordering it to allow the use of Temporary Voter Cards (TVC) in the March 18 governorship and state houses of assembly elections.

Mr. Rotimi Lawrence Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this on Thursday night in Abuja.

According to him, the commission is taking immediate steps to appeal against the judgement of the trial court.

“INEC has been served a copy of the judgement delivered today (Thursday) by the Federal High Court, Abuja Division which ordered it to allow two plaintiffs to vote with their Temporary Voter’s Card (TVC).
