Newly Inducted Nurses Should Be caring and Patient, says VC of LASU

Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Lagos State University (LASU) urged the newly inducted nurses to be caring and patient as they carry out their duties as nurses.

The VC was represented by the Deputy VC, Academic, Professor Elias Wahab, said this while inducting the first set of Bachelor of Science Nursing graduands.

Nurses are always the first and last point of contact of every patient that comes to a hospital, hence, they must be patient and caring.

I admonish you all the newly inducted nurses to improve yourselves. The world is a global village, and for you to continue to find a place, you must equip yourselves with the required skills, said the DVC.

The acting Provost of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Professor Abiodun Adewuya, said the college is equipped to train nurses at postgraduate levels.

Abiodun acknowledged that he is lucky to present the inaugural set of the graduating nurses. 

All the nursing clinical skills laboratories in LASUCOM are functional and will soon commence Masters and PhD programmes in nursing after the in less than two years from now, he said.

Professor Olarenwaju Sowunmi, The Nursing Elder of the occasion, admonished the graduands to add their own positive quote to the progress of quality nursing care in Nigeria's healthcare and the world at large.
