The coronavirus pandemic which has affected millions and killed thousands of people worldwide has been the world's greatest fear as it tends to shake the economy of so many nations including Nigeria.
No stone has been left unturned in the fight against this coronavirus pandemic as several measures have been taken into consideration to curb the virus yet there is no way out of this nightmare.
The coronavirus pandemic which has been a tough war to fight against by so many countries can be finally defeated by Nigeria if only we can take these measures into consideration and I am sure that it will eventually lead us to the bright spot light after these dark tunnels.
1. TOTAL LOCKDOWN OF ALL STATES IN NIGERIA.
The federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of president Mohammadu Buhari should make it a compulsory and mandatary act for all states to obey the total lockdown orders, shutting down all paras taters consisting of more than ten persons and keeping watch on all citizens in staying indoors and most apparently, staying safe.
2. PUBLIC AWARENESS ON THE DANGERS OF COVID-19 .
The government of Nigeria should take it as a responsibility in making the Masses aware of the dangers of coronavirus and how it is spread and ways of preventing the virus. Not only that, posters on COVID-19 should be made available and displayed in all TV stations as well as attaching it to all bill boards and sides Post in every communities in the states. Furthermore, awareness should also be made known on radio stations so as to make the information available to citizens living in the rural areas.
3. SOCIAL DISTANCING
The Federal government of Nigeria should not relax in warning the Masses to keep social distancing as it tends to be the only way to prevent the spread of this dreadful diseases. Social distancing should not be carried out in public gatherings alone but in our various homes respectively, especially families consisting of more than five persons.
4. TOTAL SHUTDOWN OF ALL BORDERS TO AVOID FOREIGNERS.
Foreigners has tends to increase the cases of people affected by coronavirus as many foreigners are positive Carrier of this dreadful virus escaping from countries where the casualties are high to countries which has less casualties of this pandemic.Shutting down the borders and a thorough screening would at least slreduce the risk of the virus.
5. AVAILABILITY OF FOOD FOR THE MASSES
As we all know, food is the basis of life. Without food man cannot survive. If there is going to be a lockdown, definitely there must be provision of food to the Masses. The federal and state government must by all means make food available in order to prevent a nationwide starvation and hunger. The government should therefore fund the agricultural sector bountifully and distribute available food items to those who are jobless and has no other means of livelihood.
More than the average number of Nigeria ns Lives and survive by working from hand to mouth(that is; they eat as they earn). On a neutral ground, Nigeria economy has not been stable even before this pandemic begins. Many citizens of this country usually find it difficult to feed themselves and their family compare to this present situation in which their is a total lockdown. If the government should make food available to the Masses during this period, I think it will go a long way in calming the citizens and motivates them in hoping for a better Nigeria after the pandemic is over.
6. FUNDING THE NIGERIA HEALTH SECTOR
The federal government should centralize themselves in funding the Nigeria health sector as it tends to be unpresentable an reliable. The Nigeria health sector over the years has grew worse due to negligence on the part of the government towards this sector and therefore resulted to so many loop holes in the sector.Further more, the health sector of Nigeria has totall collapsed due to lack of funds and unavailability of qualified medical personnel as well as in conducive, degrading, demoralized, not to write home about sector compared to other health sectors of various countries across the globe.
The Nigeria health sectoe, which is not even up to the standard of WHO (world health organization) of one doctor to six hundred patients has tends to have a minimum of a doctor to thousands of patients.
Take a look at the rural areas, most health centres situated in some areas has totally collasped, waiting for reconstruction or renovation and yet the government is not concerned at all.
The health sector is not something we can just joke with, as the government needs to focus their attention in making quick decisions towards the upgrading of all hospitals as well as health centres across the nation. It is only then we can have the pandemic under control.
7. FUNDING THE RESEARCH SECTOR
Researchers should be one of the closest Nigeria friend during this period as they have a lot of sacrifice s to make for our great nation Nigeria. Therefore, the federal government should by all means try in making sure this sector is funded.I am very sure by now that most European s and Asia countries would be doing the same(that is: making research right now). Nigeria needs to wake up from there slumber and do same too. There are so many micro biologist who would be eager to make a lot of research in finding any possible solution to this pandemic if this sector is really funded.
8. THE ESTABLISHMENT OF MORE ISOLATION CENTRES ACROSS THE NATION
The federal government of Nigeria should put in their best in the establishment of several isolation centres across the nation to treat coronavirus patients.
Isolation centres should be made available in all nooks and cranies of the this nation especially in the rural areas. The rural areas in Nigeria would be the most affected if this pandemic mistakenly gets there. In order to avoid to avoid an unending war with this virus, I think more isolation centres should be establish.
9. HOUSE TO HOUSE TESTING OF NIGERIANS ON COVID-19
carrying out house to house test is sa sure way of quickly detecting those people who are already infected with the virus. The government should therefore let the NMA( Nigeria Medical Association) know the importance of carrying out house to house test and also making it a compulsory act to be carried out on daily basis.During this testing excercise , more cases will be identified and put under control.
10. GOVERNMENT SHOULD PLEAD WITH RELIGIOUS LEADERS TO BE PRAYERFUL.
The federal government of Nigeria should plead with all religious leader s nationwide not to cease in praying to God concerning this pandemic. All religious leaders both CAN (Christian Association on Nigeria) and MAN ( Muslim Association of Nigeria) should take it as a key responsibility in taking this pandemic to the God in prayer. As we all know, only the Almighty God can put a stop to this pandemic and not man power or riches. So I am pleading wto all Nigerians to pray to God and we will see the end of this pandemic.
I am sure that If all these measures are pur in place then we are at the end road to this dark tunnels we are passing through.
Remember, only God can take this pandemic away.
