It's been over three months since the Federal Government of Nigeria initially ordered the closure of the country's economy all other sectors like schools, supermarkets, airports, churches, bars etc, due to coronavirus outbreak in the country and as a proactive measure to contain the spread of the deadly disease.

Surprisingly, some weeks ago the Federal government started considering gradual easing of lockdown and then approved the first and second phase of gradual easing of the lockdown.

As the first and second phase of gradual easing of lockdown was approved, churches, supermarkets, interstate travels, airports, garages, banks and so on were allowed to resume activities exempting schools only.

Honestly, if churches, supermarkets, garages, banks, airports, and especially market are allowed to resume activities, why then would schools remain closed.

My opinion:

Since the Federal government claims that they want a safe reopening of schools and doesn't want to endanger the lives of students, then they should announce reopening of schools with strict measures for those states in Nigeria that has less confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Obviously, students are tired of staying at home, so no matter how strict the guidelines for safe reopening would be, students will adhere to it because they wouldn't like to continue staying at home.

In my view,

The Federal government of Nigeria should allow all the states that has less than 600 confirmed cases of coronavirus to reopen schools, so students could continue their education.

The 3rd of August should be announced by Federal Government as resumption date for schools in those states mentioned above.

Moreover, schools need to be reopened because many young students are getting discouraged, and the burning desires to chase their dreams are getting low, if schools are not reopened anytime soon, many students would drop out of school.

What's your opinion, should the Federal government extend the lockdown on schools or allow reopening for those states.
