90-year old woman becomes the first ever person to receive a Covid-19 vaccine in the world

BREAKING: Margaret Keenan, 90, becomes first person in the world to receive the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, from Filipino nurse May Parsons who has worked in the NHS for 24yrs.

A 90-year-old woman from Northern Ireland has become the first person in the world to receive the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid vaccine outside trial conditions - marking the start of the UK's mass vaccination programme.

The woman is identified as Margaret Keenan and has revealed that the vaccine was an early birthday present to her and would be looking forward to being with her family in the new year after being alone for the most part of 2020.

Ms Keenan said: "I feel so privileged to be the first person vaccinated against Covid-19, it's the best early birthday present I could wish for because it means I can finally look forward to spending time with my family and friends in the new year after being on my own for most of the year."

"I can't thank May and the NHS staff enough who have looked after me tremendously, and my advice to anyone offered the vaccine is to take it - if I can have it at 90 then you can have it too."

The first Covid-19 vaccine has been tested with over 100 people and proved to be 95% effective and was approved for use in the UK last month.

Hopefully, it spreads to other parts of the world as quickly as possible to contain the spread of the virus.
