Face masks or face shield, which is better in this time of pandemic? (Opinion)

A surgical mask, also known as a face mask, is intended to be worn by health professionals during healthcare procedures. It is designed to prevent infections in patients and treating personnel by catching bacteria shed in liquid droplets and aerosols from the wearer’s mouth and nose. They are not designed to protect the wearer from breathing in airborne bacteria or viruses whose particles are smaller. With respect to some infections like influenza they appear as effective as respirators, such as N95 or FFP masks.

A face shield, an item of personal protective equipment, aims to protect the wearer’s entire face from hazards such as flying objects and road debris, chemical splashes, or potentially infectious materials.

Face masks covers the nose and does not allow breeze to come in through the nose. As we all know that one of the means at which Corona Virus spreads is through air. Also, this can be at the detriment of the body. As a human being, we need air; we need to breathe continuously with no obstruction.

A face shield allows breeze, it allows breeze to flow, and it does not allow the respiratory organ to be affected. This also has its advantage; it is opened to the risk of the corona virus that spreads through air.

The best way to stay safe is by using the nose masks and the face shield at the same time for proper safety and to prevent risks.
