It also said that the country recorded 148 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of coronavirus in the country to 2,950.
With the five new deaths,98 poeple have died from coronavirus-related complications in the country.
The data showed that Nasarawa recorded its first COVID-19 fatality on Tuesday.
The PUNCH reports that of the 98 deaths recorded in the country, 30 reported in Lagos, 14 in Borno, 11 in Kano, three in FCT, two in Ogun, eight in Katsina, one in Kaduna, eight in Sokoto, four in Edo, two in Oyo, one in Jigawa, four in Osun, two each in Delta, Akwa Ibom and Rivers, one each in Yobe, Nasarawa, Zamfara, and Ekiti.
NCDC said, and I quote “148 cases were reported in the last 24 hours in 17 states – Lagos (43), Kano (32), Zamfara (14), FCT (10), Katsina (nine), Borno (six), Taraba (seven), Ogun (six), Oyo (five), Bauchi (three), Kaduna (three), Edo (three), Gombe (three), Adamawa (two), Sokoto (one), Kebbi (one) and Plateau (one).
“No new state recorded a confirmed COVID-19 case in the last 24 hours. The total number of states including the Federal Capital Territory that have reported at least one confirmed case in Nigeria is still 35.
“Sixty-four(64) cases were discharged in the last 24 hours in three States – Lagos with 60, Kano with 3, Imo with 1. Five deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in three states – Kano with 3, Katsina with 1 and Nasarawa with 1.”
