COVID-19 Is Real, But These Rumors Are Big Lies

I understand that we all want to turn on our radio sets and television, and hear that COVID-19 is gone, or that there is a vaccine that can prevent it, or a drug that can cure or treat COVID19 effectively.

It's good to be hopeful, and i believe that you are praying for the end of COVID-19 to come as soon as possible.

However, you must be careful not to let your hopes travel too high, or cause you to make grave mistakes like believing rumors pertaining to COVID-19 prevention and cure, which can cause you to become reckless and careless about COVID-19 preventive measures, which will consequently increase your chances of contracting the virus, and even suffering from serious health complications that are dangerous to your life.

I guess you are aware of the rumor that chloroquine has the ability to prevent COVID-19 infection, or protect you from contracting the virus at all. This is big lie, chloroquine does not prevent COVID-19, or at least there is no scientific evidence to prove otherwise.

Many Nigerians ran to drug stores and pharmacy outlets to buy the chloroquine, and started gulping in large doses of it, which led to serious health damages. It was a disaster! Please do not believe this rumor. Thank you.

The chloroquine disaster, is a typical example of what happens when you let your hopes travel too high. Always wait to hear from the health commissions and National Center For Disease Control NCDC before you make any decisions or join any practice concerning COVID-19. These Health officials are privy to information and data that we are not aware of, which means that they know better than we do, and it is wise for us to follow their directives faithfully.

Without any doubt COVID-19 is real, but don't believe the following rumors, because they are all big lies, and are not medically proven by an veritable health body, such as the world health organization, NDDC etc.

These are some of them:

1. BATHING WITH HOT WATER PREVENTS COVID-19:

This is wrong and impossible, hot water does not have any connection with the spread of COVID-19. Please don't believe this rumor, it is fallacy!

2. COVID-19 CANNOT SPREAD IN COUNTRIES WITH HOT CLIMATE SUCH AS AFRICA:

This particular rumor was rampant especially when the spread of COVID-19 started across the world and in some parts of Africa, and it is still prevalent till today. many persons still believe that hot climate prevents the spread of COVID-19. This is wrong, it is a fallacy, and it is baseless.

please ignore these rumors for your safety. We have all seen how the number of people that have contracted COVID-19 has constantly increased on daily basis and drastically.

3. DRINKING ALCOHOL CAN PREVENT COVID-19:

This rumor is also a big lie. The fact that alcohol is part of the components used in the production of hand sanitizers, does not mean it protects you from contracting the virus when you drink. Please debunk any advise that encourages you to take more alcohol to protect you against COVID-19, because it is a big lie.

4. 5G HELPS TO SPREAD COVID-19:

This is one of the most ridiculous rumors I've heard. To think that network signals (electromagnetic waves) can transmit COVID-19 viral particles is ridiculous and unbelievable. Please debunk any rumor telling you this. If anyone tells you that 5G spreads COVID-19, ask them to explain the rationale and mechanism of action behind their hypothesis. I strongly believe they can't. So please don't believe it, because as far as I know, it is a big lie.

6. MOSQUITO SPREADS COVID-19:

As much as it is true that COVID-19 share symptoms with malaria, it is wrong to think that COVID-19 can be transmitted by mosquitoes.

The difference is clear; COVID-19 is transmitted through the air, and contact with body fluids, while malaria is Borne by an actual organism called plasmodium, which is carried by mosquito as its host. I guess this is simple enough to understand agree with me that this claim is a total fallacy.

7. COUGH AND SNEEZING MEANS YOU HAVE CONTRACTED COVID-19:

This rumor is funny as well. Whenever someone sneezes or coughs in public, especially when it happens a couple of times, people try to stigmatize such persons as a COVID-19 suspects. This is also wrong.

Sneezing and coughing are not absolute cardinal indications of COVID-19. there are many other things that can cause sneezing and coughing, such as irritation of your nasal mucosa, or respiratory tract.

The only way to be certain that someone is COVID-19 positive is by testing.

I hope you've learnt something, please share your thoughts with me in the comment section, I will love to hear them.
