COVID 19: FG Reveal New Date For Nigerian Students To Write WASSCE
The Federal Government and the Boards for Western African Examination have decided to postpone the date declared by the Board earlier for the certificate of Western African Senior School from 4 August to 5 September 2020.
The meeting between the Federal Government and WAEC officials in Nigeria, which was announced by the Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba on Friday, who said in Abuja that both sides agreed to consult further with four other countries on a new date to conduct the exam.
The minister has also provided school owners in the country with specific guidelines on school reopening to be announced in due course by the government.
He disclosed that the Minister of Health has consulted the Education in Emergencies Working Group, in collaboration with the Federal Department of Health for protocols on reopening schools across the country.
He said in a statement that the school owners should prepare and follow the directives by the Federal Ministry of Education.
Nwajuiba has appeal to school owners to carry out autonomous assessments and to send feedback to State Education Ministries.
"We assured parents that the health of their students and teachers is very important, we are working towards to reopen our schools for the exit classes to take external examinations," he added.
