The veteran journalist Babajide Kolade Otitoju, while speaking on a weekly edition of the popular program “Journalists Hangout” on TVC news, he said all the rich personalities in Nigeria should start paying for COVID-19. The testing amount is over #50000, to help the government in the fight against COVID-19, the rich should start paying, so the poor masses can continue enjoying the privilege of free testing. Go and know your status if you can afford the money.
Babajide while reacting to the surge increase in COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, and why Nigeria need to increase our testing capacity. Nigeria testing capacity is very low compared to Ghana and South Africa. The more you test, the more we can ascertain if there is decrease or increase in the cases of COVID-19.
For us to defeat these pandemic, we have to test more people, and also the government should decentralize the testing laboratory. It will also serve as income for private laboratory, the economic will receive boost. We cannot continue to deceive ourselves that the government should continue paying for the test of all Nigerians, and also treating the infected people, it will get to a stage where all these Governor will start saying they don’t have enough fund to continue. Let us be proactive by decentralizing the testing centers.
