"No legacy is so rich as honesty." - William Shakespeare.
To be honest with you, in this post I will be sharing the possible seven (7) Reasons why there may be delayed in the payment of June stipends to all the Batch A and B Npower beneficiaries, and 4-month accumulated backlogs to some unpaid Npower beneficiaries since March till date.
Presently, all the Npower beneficiaries (both Batch A and B) have been seriously checking their mobile phones every moment whenever there is any form of phone rings not minding whether the ringtone is meant for calls or messages, because they are eagerly waiting for the payment of June stipends since June ending till date, as well as payment of 4-month backlogs to close to 12,000 unpaid Npower beneficiaries who are affected during the change in payment platform from REMITA to GIFMIS.
According to the management in charge of Npower Programme, they have acknowledged the fact that they are owing close to 12,000 affected Npower volunteers and promise to rectify the issue so as to pay them their March, April, May and June stipends together.
The following seven (7) reasons are possibly what is (are) delaying the payment of June stipends and 4-month backlogs:
#1. BACKLOGS (UNPAID MARCH, APRIL & MAY STIPENDS PLUS JUNE)
It is no more fake news or rumour that some Npower beneficiaries didn't receive their March, April and May stipends up to this moment of writing this post.
During the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 meeting, when the Honourable Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq was asked about the claim of nonpayment of stipends to some Npower beneficiaries, she said that the Ministry is aware and they are working with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to resolve the unpaid stipends
#2. PAYMENT OF STIPENDS TO SOME EXITED NPOWER BENEFICIARIES
During the payment of March stipends, some of the Npower beneficiaries who have exited from the Npower Programme for one reason or the other, were also mistakenly paid. So, they are sorting it out.
#2. PAYMENT OF DOUBLE STIPENDS IN MAY
Also, during the payment of May stipends many paid Npower beneficiaries were also said to have received double credit transaction alerts, totalling #60,000 instead of #30,000 for that month. This double payment will be properly checked and confirmed to ensure that such volunteers do not get paid again in June.
#4. REASONS FOR FLAGGED ACCOUNTS
They may be trying to identify reason(s) for flagging the accounts of all unpaid Npower beneficiaries individually to ascertain how to rectify the nonpayment issue of stipends to them, because since when they changed to new payment platform - GIFMIS (Government Integrated Financial Management Information System) in March 2020 there have been many complaints from Npower beneficiaries.
So, the Ministry in charge of Npower Programme (FMHDSD) and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation may possibly be working tirelessly together in making all necessary efforts also on the following:
#5. RECONCILIATION OF ACCOUNTS
They may be reconciling the accounts of all the Npower beneficiaries to know those who have been paid or not.
#6. IMPLEMENTATION OF GEEP LOAN
They may be implementing GEEP loan for all the Npower beneficiaries, both Batch A and B.
#7. PROPER TRANSITION OF BOTH BATCHES
They may be properly planning for the transition of Batch A and B Npower beneficiaries as a result of the ongoing protests here and there at state and federal levels by the disengaged Npower volunteers against the disengagement of 500,000 batch A and B Npower beneficiaries.
Conclusively, it will be advisable for all the Npower beneficiaries especially the affected Npower volunteers who have not been paid since March till date to patiently await payment(s) any moment from now, after all things are put in good place to resolve all the aforementioned financial issues.
Kindly note that it is very possible for the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development under the management, supervision and leadership of Honourable Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq, not to make any payment of June stipends unless all the present issues are adequately resolved to guide against the possible outcry of nonpayment of stipends to some set of Npower beneficiaries again, on social media platforms and physical protest.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
