School Resumption: Students give Federal Government two weeks to announce school resumption.

Schools have been closed since march due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, and since then schools have been closed for approximately four month with students in their respective homes waiting for Federal Government order on school reopening.


Recently the Federal Government cancelled the West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination stated to start in August due to the fear of exposing the lives of students to danger.


 In response to the Federal Government decision, Students have giving the federal government two weeks to announce school resumption, following what they describe as poor handling of school reopening.


The groups of students comprises of the National Association of Polytechnic students (NAPS), National Association of University students (NAUS) and the National Association of colleges of Education students (NANCES), they held a virtual meeting, while the group of students describe federal government's approach to school reopening as unstable. While they threatened to protest against continued closure of schools if the government fails to yield to their two weeks warning.


They also disagreed with the government decision to halt waec candidate from writing their 2020 waec examinations stated for next month. Urging the Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu to reconsider the cancellation of 2020 waec examination and provide the students the opportunity to write their examination, stating that social distancing and other safety measures can be maintain while writing the examination.


Meanwhile, the vice Chancellor of Chrisland University Abeokuta, Ogun State Professor Peace Chinedum Babalola has also advise the federal government to adopt a 'staggered' reopening of schools speaking at the University fifth matriculation ceremony held online. She said government should reopen schools for final year students at all levels in other to avoid delay. Stating that it could be used as a measure to proper school resumption.
