Insecurity has been the order of the day in Nigeria, while the government is doing its best to curtail this wildfire of insecurity more insurgent groups and bandits are on the increase every day. However, it is essential for the government to realize that they have taken an oath to guard and protect the lives and properties of all its citizens, failure of m their side shows lack of integrity.
This is the story of 75 years old blind Pa Ndarfa. In 2014, boko haram invaded his village and three of his wives were kidnapped in Borno state leaving his daughter Lami Jato, She had been the one catering for her old blind father and the rest of the family since after the kidnapped.
Two weeks ago, boko haram invaded their village again and kidnapped his daughter, Lami Jato, his niece Renita Bitrus and one other person. Now the dreadful group are demanding for a ransom of 20 million Naira on or before Monday else they will kill their hostages. Pa Ndarfa who is an old blind and poor man doesn't have 20 million to pay as ransom, so he is appealing for the Borno state government to come to his aid.
He calls on Borno state governor Prof. Babagana Zullum to assist him in paying the 20 million Naira ransom so he could have his family back. His request however, triggered a divided opinions, while some think the Governor should pay the ransom to rescue the captives, others think the group will use the money to procure more arms so the governor should not pay.
What is your take on this please, should the Governor pay to save those lives or he should cause the sect will purchase more arms to kill more people?.
