How Families Can Help In Ending Rape —Experts

Mr. Dipo Olukemi, a lawyer for Rape, said that the war against the epidemic must begin with the family. Mr. Olukemi, speaking on the online forum called PERVERSION: SAY NO TO RAPE, clarified that both the perpetrators and the victims of the rape arise from the family, and hence the need to tackle the origin of the family.

He argued that the prevalence of abuse showed that there was a need for more attention on the part of parents to their children. Olukemi stressed the need for child sex education , self-defense and the prosecution of offenders to serve as a deterrent.

Another speaker, Mrs. Bunmi Olaromilorun, warned parents against the use of seductive clothing for children. The duo of Miss Grace Olawoyin and Chinenye Feyisola, who were participants, wanted parents to build a friendly environment around their children to keep wolves in sheep's clothing away.

Another participant Mr Seyi Aminu warned ladies to desist from insulting or condemning unwanted suitors as the uncultured among them can resort to raping.Other participants Olowo yemisi and Pastor Buraimoh Ayodeji charged parents to be extra watchful during the lockdown where most children stay at home all by themselves watching sensual movies saying could lead the children to dangerous adventures.
