The issues of insecurity in Nigeria is becoming more alarming and something needs to be done immediately to avoid further violence and killings especially what was seen in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State. It was a night of terror and horror for citizens of the State who were about their own businesses before the ugly incident last night occurred.

We have had several situation reports of attacks by hoodlums who have taken up arms to rob innocent people of their properties, looting people's shops and disturbing the peace of the land.

However, it was reported that the Hausa community in the state popularly known as Nassarawa was attacked and some people were allegedly killed. The Hausa community is also not taking this lightly as they also have allegedly planned to retaliate on the basis that they are not safe. Efforts to reach the community leaders prove abortive as they were not responding to calls.

It all started at the slaughter in Itam junction when a young man was killed by an unidentified Hausa man selling cow meat yesterday in the morning, the hoodlums seized the opportunity coupled with the cult clash and started robbing people up to plaza.

On the other hand, as hoodlums attacked, business owners and shops were forced to close down before the usual time. This happened around Aka Road close to plaza and Abak Road close to Plaza.

It was reported that the hoodlums had robbed Ekpenyong Street some days ago and Ikot Abasi Street. According to what people who are eyewitnesses said, it all started with a cult clash between Clans and Axe men.

A member of the Clans confraternity who was identified as Okoto was reportedly killed earlier in the morning and that sparked anger from the Clans members who took to the streets in search of axe men to retaliate on what had happened.

Although, there was a heavy presence of security officers at the affected areas and peace has returned to the area as at the time of this report.
