A young man, simply identified as Ndubuisi was reportedly arrested by the village vigilante group after he was caught with a stolen goat.
There's hunger in the land,Stealing has become a common occurrence in Nigeria since the lockdown started and there have been more reports of petty thefts amongst other things.
Afikpo South in Ebonyi State happens to be one of those villages ravages by petty thieves, everyday there's always dozens of reports of villagers searching for their missing items, rising from food items, livestocks, clothes etc.
The angry villagers are tired of complaining, and sometimes whenever a petty thief is caught, he or she will be publicly humiliated.
There have been incidences where thieves were stoned, burnt alive or stripped naked and paraded within their communities.
According to the the chairman of the village vigilante group, Mr ikenna, the thief was caught around the market square as he tried to escape with the goat which was tied in a field by its owner.
The crowd was said to have stripped the suspect, beat him mercilessly and paraded around the town with the goat before the police finally intervened and he was handed over to them.
