The man that went viral for flogging his daughter after he warned her not to join a group chat has come under heavy criticism for the action.
Many people are of the opinion that the girl is 18 years of age and so she is an adult who has the right to take decisions on her own.
Here are some of the reactions:
To everyone saying She’s 18, i think the first step to being an adult in Nigeria is moving out of your Parent’s house. To cement your adulthood, you have to start sending money back home. If you have not done any of the above, my dear, you are still a child to most Nigerian Parents.
“Don’t beat the child instead talk to her, she’s 18.” We might as well start talking to criminals instead of putting them in Jail.
Spare the rod and spoil the child!
I still wonder why people are not picking up this words clearly,
"Daddy warned me not to join the group or or any group but I joined"
Please, was the warning not verbal? Now this beating will for ever be in her memory when ever she wants to join another group under his roof.
Even Jesus flogged people selling in the church and they were adults, he did not sit them down to talk because there is time for everything.
You condemned a father for not beating his 21 years old boy who didn’t sit for exam after paying $21k and now you are also condemning a father flogging his daughter because she’s 18.
For African parents, discipling you is not age bound. The nature might change as you age.
People should leave out the talk “She’s 18” blah blah blah. The reason we are doing most of the right things we do is the correction method our parents used on us. It is when we grow and have our own family we will understand the effect of how important spanking helped us make right decisions.
What do you think of this new development?
