The people of Ungogo local government, Kano state have been thrown into mourning as a young beautiful housewife took her life by burning herself into ashes because her husband married a new wife a while ago which she wasn't comfortable with.
The woman who set Herself ablaze was identified as Rabi while her husband was identified as Badamasi. This action by the deceased is surprising because in the Northern part of Nigeria, polygamy is seen as a normal thing, men are allowed to take as many as five wives if he is certain he can take care of them appropriately. Although, arguments have been raised by analysts that polygamy is one of the reasons for the high level of poverty in the area as opposed to the southern part of the country where monogamy is more embraced.
The action of the deceased (Rabi) has thrown friends and family into mourning because they were unhappy with the actions surrounding her death. No official statement has been obtained from the spokesperson of the police in the area.
