Armed robbery cases have been rampant in many parts of the country in recent times. Some young men claimed that they are into illegal activities like armed robbery, kidnapping and other illegal activities because they are jobless, what nasty excuses!
According to reports posted on Twitter handle of Daily Post Nigeria, it was said that one armed robber kingpin, named Oluwatosin Abowaba was arrested by the police in Ogun State for allegedly being the leader of a group of robbers who are responsible for stealing motorbikes in Mowe and Ijebu axis of the state.
Abowaba was arrested by the Ogun State security agency, the So-Safe Corps.
The spokesperson of the So-Safe Corps, ACC Moruf Yusuf said that the State Commander of the Corps, Soji Ganzallo, had few weeks back the Redeemed Division of the corps to ensure that this notorious robber be apprehended and transfered to the nearby jurisdiction of Nigeria police immediately
According to Yusuf, the suspect has allegedly been involved in different cases related to stealing motorcycles in the area around Mowe and Ijebu axis.
The robber leader has been mentioned by a gang of apprehended criminals in police custody. The gang accused Abowaba, the kingpin of receiving and selling any stolen motorbikes to interested customers who come to buy them.
It was said all the bikes stolen around Mowe and Ijebu axis have to pass through him who later help the other robbers to sell them to buyers
He said, “The So-Safe Corps, Redeemed Division, with proper intelligence gathering techniques, successfully got the crime suspect Oluwatosin Abowaba (a.k.a Maja), who has been declared wanted for one crime or the other by the Ijebu-Ode and Mowe Divisional Police Headquarters, arrested at Olowotedo, Mowe at about 06:00hrs on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.”
Items recovered from the suspected kingpin inclu cutlass, cleaver knife, iron rods, a crow bar and different charms.
Most of these are caught weapons and sometimes charms. I begin to wonder why they are caught by the security agents. With all these charms, they are still being caught. Does it mean that the charm failed them? Does it mean the instructions given by their chief priest or the boka man was not followed strictly.
In the case of Abowaba here, he has been declared wanted by the police in the area before he was later arrested by the the So-Safe Corps. May be he had thought earlier that his charms had been keeping away from the security agents. His own charms also failed him.
He was caught with the following items in his possessions :
