2 Die in Edo Community as Robbers Engage Police in Gun Battle.

Edo State Police Commissioner, CP Johnson Kokumo, on Thursday confirmed that the men of the state command had shot and killed two suspected criminals in an attempt to stop an ongoing armed robbery attack on Amagba village, GRA extension, in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.

The police Boss, while speaking to newsmen during the parading of 27 suspects in Benin city, said the crime suspects were apprehended for crimes ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, cultism and rape.

In his statement, he said the state command of Nigerian police force got a distress call in the wee hours of Thursday stating that 8 armed gang members were terrorizing the residents of Amagba community.

“police operatives were quickly dispatched to the scene but on sighting the police, they open fire at the police but through the help of community policing, they were able to overpower and foil their attack."

“Two of the robbers who sustained gunshot injuries died on their way to the hospital but another one of the suspect who also sustained injury was arrested, he has actually given a very useful information that will assist us in the course of our investigations in the view of arresting the remaining five.” CP Johnson Kokumo added.
