Youth's in Ilorin protests over the increase in the cost of marijuana in the state. The youths displayed their anger and frustration by destroying residents properties, mostly properties belonging to the sellers of the marijuana. Their aim is to force the sellers of this dangerous substance to reduce the cost.
Marijuana is a gray mixture of dried flowers of Cannabis Sativa. It is called different names in different areas. It is called weed, herb, pot, grass, bud, ganja, Mary Jane and many more. Marijuana can be very medicinal and very dangerous when misused.
The elders of the state, particularly "Alore" are worried about the incident and also about the increased number of crimes in the state.
Former secretary of the states chapter of CAN, Dr. Olusola Ajolore condemned the protest and attributed the ugly act to failed parenting. Ajolore while speaking to the Guardians, called on the town to take action immediately before this ugly acts spreads to other youth's in the state. He asked the youths to embrace christ-like character so as to make the town a peaceful place.
Speaking about the incident also was Alhaji Muhammed Bashir, the chief Imam of Ilorin. Bashir urged the parents to bring up their children properly. He also told the Guardian that Ilorin was not like that in the past, that the youth's are copying bad gangs.
At the time of the report, the states Police spokesman Ajayi Okasanmi DSP, said that the command is yet to be briefed about the situation. But promised to take necessary action if any crime is reported.
