Few hours ago, Dr Charles Omole took to his twitter page to enlighten his followers that EFCC do not have any unilateral power to freeze any account in Nigeria.
According to Dr Charles, A small revolution took place last month in a Lagos court that many may not have noticed. It is normal practice for security agencies in Nigeria to act beyond their powers as experienced by different people on a daily basis. Truly, there have been reports of accounts being frozen by the EFCC all over Nigeria, but now, a court has reaffirmed the position of the law on this practice, as they must now obtain a court order in other to freeze an account in any Nigerian bank, henceforth.
A High Court ordered Diamond Bank Plc to pay a Lagos-based Lawyer, Adetokunbo Odutola, N25 million as damages.
Personally, I believe this is a great move, as security agencies need to be checked from time to time.
