Nigerian Police Storm Fela Afrika Shrine, Disrupt The EndSARS Meeting

Nigerian Police Storm Fela Afrika Shrine, Disrupt The EndSARS Meeting.

In an attempt to prevent a meeting of #EndSARS, police have broken into the fela shrine and restricted movement in and out of the sanctuary.

Seun, one of the sons of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, a teacher of Afrobeats, had previously sent out leaflets announcing a meeting on the lessons of the #EndSARS protests.

But the police later wrote to the Anikulapo family, demanding that the meeting not be held at the shrine, a place of relaxation.

Seun had distributed snapshots of the letter in the social media.

"You are hereby warned to interrupt this meeting, as any violation that may result from this meeting will be considered a deliberate act of sabotage of the transition and the restoration of peace in Lagos State by the Lagos State Government and the Nigerian police," the letter said.

On Tuesday, the mobile police set up strategic locations throughout the sanctuary, while their vans were parked directly in front of the relaxation area.
