Ms Joy Nunieh has come out to narrate her experienced with the security detail that laid siege to her house in the early hours of Thursday July 16. Addressing newsmen at the government house in River State, after she was dramatically rescued by the state governor, Nyesome Wike.

According to the online media, SaharaReporters, Ms Nunieh said the security men that came to effect her arrest could not provide her with an arrest warrant hence her refusal to follow them. She said she asked for her arrest warrant and they could not provide it.

In her words " They (policemen) started trying to break the security door. Because it is a security door, they spent a lot of time trying.to break it" Continuing she said, "so my governor came and send them out; and said why would they come to arrest a woman like a rubber. My governor told them that they should leave the compound. I am safely here in with my governor in government house Port Harcourt".

Ms Nunieh, a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission has been on loggerheads with the Minister of the Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Akpabio over the running of the commission .

Akpabio was alleged by Ms Nunieh of misappropriation in the ministry among other things. It was as a result of this that she was supposed to appear before a representative committee of the National Assembly investigating the affairs of the NDDC. She was preparing to catch a flight to Abuja for that purpose when men of the Nigeria Police laid siege to her house in an attempt to arrest her. It could not t be ascertained if this was to prevent her from submitting her facts to the committee.
