Seated at the eatery, sipping his glass of juice, he caught her gaze. He thought it was incidental until he caught it the second time. 'She looks so amazing and too beautiful to notice a guy like me', Jack said to himself. This isn't the first time a lady took time out to admire him which he noticed. 'How come this one seems to unbalance me', he asked. She sat with a gentleman who looked pretty expensive too. He obviously looks cool and from the way he looks at her, he is really into her. 'Wait a minute! I came here to clear out my head with a glass of soft drink, not to fill my head with someone else's concerns', he remarked. So he looked away never to face her direction until he was through.

Jack had paid the waitress, so he was about leaving with his bag. As he adjusted to get going, here came a gentle tap on his shoulders. He enthused, 'who might know me here'. He turned to see her smiling face which spoke with a calm voice, 'hi, how are you doing?'. 'Fine' he replied with a bit of shock, calm and like one who had fallen before he actually fell. They exchanged pleasantries and he wondered why she came to him when she was with a perfect gentleman. 'He is using the restroom' she said. She stood still smiling and asking him not to worry that she just came to say hello. As they tried to know a little more about themselves, Andrew the perfect gentleman who was by her all along called to her, 'I'm done, let's get going'. From the look of things, Andrew cared little about who she must have been flirting with. His facial expressions and gentle smile meant he owns her and looks like a man who isn't afraid of any competition because he seems to have the cash. As they left the eatery, Jack kept watching them until they got into the car which happened to be a range rover. All his doubts were cleared, she was with a very rich guy. As they drove off, he turned to take his bag for the second time, only to find a little piece of paper near the glass he used in drinking. It was written on it, 'If you care to chat me up, 0******6724 Lydia'. Wow! 'She's smart', he said to himself. He took the piece of paper with a smile and got going.
He was about 10km away from home and had to take a taxi which went his direction. All along the trip, all he ever thought of was how beautiful she looked, the shiny wine coloured body fitted gown on her and the never fading smile she wore which had a touch of dimples. He wondered what had gotten over him as restlessness crept in. All along what came to mind was the fact she kept staring at him. 'It meant she liked me and fancied me', those were his meditations. He couldn't wait to get home before adding her number to his WhatsApp contact list. He rushed to her status, but couldn't find any pictures, since they had not chatted yet. He thought to drop a message, but he had to tell himself, it's pretty too soon. Finally, he got home, ate his lunch but was restless all along. Finally he had a nap after watching a movie.
As he slept, here came a dream he would rather not want to have if he had the power to choose dreams but it was his saving grace. He saw himself with the damsel he had just met, getting into a form of entanglement which cost him tears. In the dream he wept as he sought God's mercy for what he had done and God's back was turned against him. He woke up soiling his bed with tears as he wept until he woke up. It was a simple dream but he didn't need any interpretations to understand what it meant. Immediately scriptures started flooding his head, many of which came from the book of proverbs. Chiefest of them all was Proverbs 6 vs 25-26.
Proverbs 6:25-26 King James Version (KJV)
25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.
All of a sudden it dawned on him that he had been played. She had shot her shoot and it had the effect she wanted. He was taken away by her beauty and her eyelids as she constantly stared at him. Immediately he deleted her contact, he threw the note she sent into the fire. He had to cut all the ties. It's a thin line that separates life and death, lust and love, sin and righteousness as well. He was close to sending her a chat. It would have been hard to let go cause her charm was great. 'Why start a battle I have lost even before I started?', he asked. She had a man who was responsible for her. He trusts her as he trusts his self. He was rich and had it all. Whether married or single, it was clear he was her man. She wasn't content with him as she flirts with others. She would put Jac in an awkward situation. He could loose his life for going out with her. She would preserve hers because her man obviously loves her and will believe any lie she tells him. He was not only going to sin against God but also against man. How close was he from falling. So, the Lord preserved him as he does to all those who put their trust in him.
Proverbs 5:3-11 King James Version(KJV)
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed.
It doesn't have to the entanglement stage before the fall actually happens. It starts when the flirting develops and the feelings start maturing. Every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lusts and enticed by what he desires. When lust has conceived, it brings forth sin which when finished results in death. It's a gradual process but the fall starts from the beginning, not when it eventually happens.
Yes, many guys do it and nothing happens. They don't experience the things listed in the scripture above. Some do experience a form of regret but hide in pretence and in silence. The truth is, a true child of God is different from every other guy. Remember David in the bible, just one sin he committed with Uriah's wife, it cost him so many things. Herod in the new testament, took his brother's wife and nothing happened to him. The closer you are to God, the more chastisement he lashes out to you. Thank God for his saving grace.
