The murderers of University of Benin (UNIBEN) freshman, Uwa, who was raped to death inside The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) few months ago, where she went to, in order to study, have been found.
Uwaila Vera Omozuwa was a 22 year old student in one of Nigeria’s prestigious federal university, University of Benin. There, she studied microbiology. Her life was cut short in a brutal rape attack. She was found dead, lying half naked, in a pool of blood at the church where she had been both a member and a chorister. Uwa usually went to the church to study on weekdays to avoid distractions from her siblings at home. She went more regularly in recent months as her university was one of the schools shut down by authorities as part of the measures to halt the corona virus pandemic in Nigeria.
The information gotten from these culprits as they are currently being paraded by the Edo State Authorities, reveals that the architect behind the rape and murder of the deceased was the landlady of Uwa's house, and not the clerics of the church as earlier alleged.
According to one of the suspects, the landlady wanted to boost her business through rituals and she had opted to use Uwa. The woman also said that Uwa’s chastity was the exact and right kind as she was “too pure”.
Going deeper into the confessions of these men, Uwa was traced to the church according to the information they had gathered based on her daily routine. The attack on Uwa while in the church, with no one around, had made her fight back. This action of her prompted one of the culprits to hit her on the head with a fire extinguisher which was hanging on the wall and within reach.
Due to the hit on the head, she was weakened and they had their way with her. Her private part was wiped with a white handkerchief as instructed by the landlady.
It was also gathered that the sum of a million naira was paid to these culprits by the landlady.
It is our prayer that Uwa’s soul will continue to rest in peace as the landlady and other culprits involved faces the law and justice is served.
