Remember The Nigerian Lady Who Was Wrongly Arrested For Drug Trafficking? See Her Recent Photos

Remember Zainab Aliyu the Nigerian lady who was wrongly arrested in Saudi Arabia for trafficking Tramadol? She was held in Saudi Arabia a year ago. Zainab Aliyu spent more than 3 months in prison.

Illegal drugs was discovered in a bag tagged in her name, on her arrival in Saudi Arabia. The news spread so wildly which rose alot of reactions from Nigerians.

According to Zainab Aliyu in an interview with BBC News Hausa she said "i cried and cried until tears wouldn't run from my eyes anymore". She couldn't imagine herself being imprisoned in a foreign country.

Zainab Aliyu got lucky and the charges against her was dropped. the Nigerian authorities have blamed a local cartel for planting the drugs in her bag. zainab Aliyu was arrested on Wednesday, 26 December 2018 in a hotel in Medina. Before she got released by Saudi security officials the Nigerian Consulate in Jeddah stepped in and requested for full investigation to proved her innocence.

The investigation which was conducted by the Airport authorities and the NDLEA known in full words as National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Kano discovered a drug cartel at the Airport "Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MALIA)" That specialises in planting drugs on innocent travellers bag without their knowledge. It was discovered that the drug found in Zainab Aliyu's bag was planted by the cartel without her knowledge.

The cartel members was arrested and charged to court in the Federal High Court located at Kano. The results of the investigation and trial of the suspects confirmed the innocence of Zainab Aliyu. She was released on the 30th of April in the year 2019.
