Fresh charges have been served to the embattled Lagos doctor who specializes in Cosmetic surgery, Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission ( FCCPC) over alleged evasion from investigation into a reported case of failed plastic surgery. The defendant is charged alongside her clinic, MedContour Services Ltd.
The re- arraignment took place before a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos before. Justice Mohammed Liman . Dr. Anu was first arraigned on 3rd July on allegations that the cosmetic surgery carried out by her led to the death of one Mrs. Nneka Onwuzuligbo. amongst other charges.
The doctor's travail began when a buttocks enhancement operation she conducted on Nneka Onwuzuligbo developed complications which led to her death. Nneka, a model popularly known as "Sparkle " was first runner up of the Face of Democracy 2013 beauty pageant.
The prosecuting lawyer and CEO of FCCPC Barr. Babatunde Irukera stated in his six - paragraph affidavit that the suit is in response to complaints from 3 petitioners, Marlene Oluwakemi, Taiwo Temilade, and Vivian Onwuzuligbo alleging that Dr. Anuoluwapo's body enhancement business "are unsafe for consumers"
Dr. Anuoluwapo has pleaded not guilty to all the charges and we all await the verdict of the court.
