The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), says he has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, over the persistent malicious publications against him by SaharaReporters through its online medium. Malami, who disclosed this in a statement by Dr. Umar Gwandu, his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, in Abuja on Friday. said his lawyers, Sunday Ameh (SAN), and Co have forwarded the petition to the IGP.
The Federal Government has directed school owners in the country to meet specific guidelines by July 29, 2020 towards the reopening of schools at a date to be announced later. The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, gave the directive in a statement signed by Ben Goong, the Director Information in the ministry, on Friday in Abuja. Nwajiuba said the Ministry, having consulted widely with the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Education in Emergencies Working Group, had developed and circulated guidelines for the reopening of schools.
The Ekiti State Government has postponed the reopening date of worship centres earlier scheduled for July 17 to August 14. Services in worship centres, including Mosques and Churches, had been suspended since March following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. In a statement in Ado Ekiti on Friday, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade, said government’s new decision was because leaders of worship centres could not meet the conditions set for reopening.
