Following the killing of at least five individuals in Akinyele LGA of Oyo in June this year. The security agency in the State lashed out to arrest the situation and bring the culprits to book.
The effort didn’t go unproductive.
The state police command in Ibadan confirmed as at Wednesday the apprehension of some suspects in connection to the killing of the innocent five victims.
Interestingly, this suspects were being paraded at the Nigerian Police Head office in Eleyele, Ibadan last Friday, during which one of the suspects identified as Sunday Sodiope, age 19-years, made a shocking revelation about the killings after confessing to the crime.
Sodiope explained that a 50-year-old herbalist man named Yinusa Ajani, was responsible for tasking him on such operations to kill people for him and in return, the herbalist will usually give him food and N500 to go home with.
The suspected serial killer noted that Ajani (the herbalist) would often make incantations before he (Sodiope) leaves to carry out an operation.
He added that the incantations carried out by Ajani was to ensure he performs the operation successfully, without being seen by anyone.
Sodiope further clarified that once he tracks his victims, he would usually hit them with a shovel, leaving them down on the ground in their own pool of blood, after which he will move around their body three times while making certain incantations as instructed by Ajani, before he finally exits the scene.
Sodiope explained that he has carried out five of such operations in the past for the herbalist.
