
The Anambra Police Command have arrested a woman who killed her newborn son by throwing him into a pit toilet.
The woman identified as Franca Udokwu, from Obuba Obofia Nkpor Community in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State, was arrested on the 22nd of August by police officers attached to the Ogidi Division following a tip-off.
Upon interrogation, the 30-year-old woman led police detectives to the pit toilet inside her house where she had dumped her newly born baby.
The baby was recovered and taken to Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital for medical care where he was confirmed dead by a medical practitioner upon arrival.
According to the Anambra State Police Public Relation Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, the baby's corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for a post mortem.
Mohammed added that the case is under investigation after which the woman will be charged to court.
