Hand Over The Former NDDC Boss. The River State Police Tells Wike

Hell may break loose between the The Rivers State Police and the State Government.

The Rivers State commissioner of police, Joseph Mekun demanded that the state governor Nyesim Wike releases the former NDDC boss, Joy Nunieh, to him.

Wike who went to her house on a rescue mission with some of his trusted security aids to resist the police from arresting her because they didn't have a warrant of arrest and other documents that should be in place before making the arrest.

In a public address on Friday evening, the commissioner requested that Wike hands Mrs Nunieh over because she is under scrutiny of the Nigerian police force. She is currently under the state protective custody under the directive of the state governor.

The police force claimed that the exercise was legitimate and done under the right protocol. They further said that the Inspector General of Police, Monitoring Unit were endorsed by them to gather more information from her before Wike bullied his way through.

"It is unfortunate because under normal circumstances if the governor is saying that he went to rescue her, he is supposed to turn her over to me because I am the Commissioner of Police and had they had no right to take her to the government house.

"Nobody says that he should not protect the citizen, but everything should be within the directive of the law.

"So if you rescue your citizen, we expect your to turn her over to the force who is in a better position to protect her. I still believe he is going to turn her over because the exercise was legitimate and within the confined of the law.
