Lawal was charged by the economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC) for allegedly helping a former minister of petroleum resources.

He testified on Wednesday before justice Muhammad Sa'idu Sifawa at the Sokoto state high court, sitting in Sokoto
The bribe was allegedly offered to compromise an ongoing investigation by the EFCC
