1. 600 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Nigeria, total confirmed cases now 35,454.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has reported 600 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of active infections to 35,454.

Till date, 14,633 cases have been discharged and 772 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 600 new cases are reported from 20 states, namely: Lagos-129, FCT-118, Oyo-87, Kano-55, Benue-42, Enugu-35, Kwara-28, Imo-16, Ogun-13, Kaduna-12, Ondo-12, Delta-11, Edo-11, Plateau-8, Nasarawa-6, Ekiti-6, Niger-6, Borno-4, Abia-4, Gombe-3.


2. 32 kidnapped hostages have been rescued by Troops in Benue State.

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have killed a notorious kidnap kingpin, who is identified as Zwa Ikyegh, at Tomayin village in Logo LGA of Benue State.

It was also gathered that, the soldiers rescued 32 hostages who had been held captive for over a month.

This was made known in a statement by Maj. Gen. John Enenche, The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations.


3. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kogi State command, has intercepted substances suspected to be cocaine and other hard drugs being smuggled to insurgents terrorising the North East.


According to the PUNCH, the operatives of the command made four different interceptions and seizures in one day, beating all the concealment tactics of the couriers of the drugs and their drivers.

Mr Alfred Adewumi, The state Commandant of the NDLEA, while parading the suspects, said his men on patrol along the Abuja-Lokoja highway were able to intercept the drugs.
