Two newly recruited police officers who were amateurs in the police force have drowned in oyo state while chasing suspected weed smokers.
The newly recruited police constables of the Durbar police station, oyo state were a member of the Discipline intelligent group of Nigeria, DIGON, have drowned while chasing some suspected weed smokers.
The identities of the two police officers were revealed as Oparemi Goke and Ogunyemi Mujeeb, both men just passed out of the Police Training College few months ago before this tragic incident occurred.
They both drowned around 7:30pm on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Awerintu River, Oke Eletu, while chasing the bad guys who ran towards a bridge washed away by flood.
One of the suspected weed smoker jumped into the the water and the newly recruited police officers jumped after him and were swallowed by mud and it eventually led to their death. The dead bodies of the police officers were retrieved from the Mud late hours of the same day around 9.20pm.
It was really an unfortunate event as the amateur police officers lost their lives while chasing weed smokers in the Bush.
