He was arrested and detained last week Monday, July 6, 2020, following a summons by the presidential panel probing his activities of office. The panel is headed by a former Appeal Court judge, Ayo Salami.
Mr Magu regined freedom few hours after rumours emmerged that he was in the custody of the police for 10 days. However , he was actually held by a presidential panel on investigating allegations of corruption and insubordination levelled against him by Abubakar Malami, the Nigerian Justice minister.
The embattled former nti-graft chairman is facing a long charge such as the alleged discrepancies In the reconciliation records of the EFCC and the Federal Ministry of Finance on recovered funds, Declaration of N504 billion as recovered funds, instead of N539 billion earlier claimed , insubordination of the office of the AGF amongst others.
His camp confirmed the news and will respond to the press in due time , however Mr Magu is not free from the accusation , he was given a breather to gather his defence and prove some claims that he made to the panel during detention.
