Katsina: How 5 Siblings Died From Deadly Blast While Playing With Grenade

It was a sad day today in Katsina state as a deadly bomb blast was reported which claimed the lives of about 6 children and 5 others severely injured.

At first, the report did not really spell out the cause of the blast as security agencies were yet to ascertain if it was a terrorist act or not.

As reported by channels TV this evening, the children had picked up a military grenade and were playing with it when it mistakenly went off sending out a deadly blast which erupted, killing 5 of them.

The incident occurred at Yammama, a village in Malumfashi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Police Command, Gambo Isah, while disclosing the outcome of the investigation in a statement sent to Channels Television, he noted that detectives from the police Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted the investigations.

According to eye witness accounts, a loud sound was heard from the farm of one Alhaji Hussaini Mai Kwai at about 11:30 am.

Men of the Operation Puff Adder quickly rushed to the scene to ascertain the situation there.

On reaching, the area was cordoned off and the police started investigations immediately.

The five dead children, unfortunately, were children of a man named Alhaji Adamu of Yammawa village, Malumfashi LGA of Katsina state.”

The 11 children had gone to farm to fetch food for their cattle

Recall katsina state has been recently plagued by constant attacks from bandits and this unfortunate case throws a huge spanner to the works of the security agencies who are doing all they can to secure the lives of the citizens.

This is another day of mourning in the state of our president, Muhammad Buhari and we pray for the families of the dead children to stay strong.
